Captain’s Log. Daddy Chronicles. Diaper Date 1690. It has been a long time my friends. I apologize for my absence, but this week almost did the Captain in. Been a fun, busy, frustrating week.
The highlight has been watching the Diaper Dweller develop his superpower of walking. He now can stoop down to pick something up and keep walking. He turns corners and accelerates. He pulls things down that we didn’t think he could reach. While he is raising absolute havoc, I see it as a blessing to have him around.
The Eldest is trying to position herself as a decision maker in the family, but that isn’t working out for her. In fact, she had the quote of the week. After Mrs. Captain told her to pick up her toys she retorted, “I want to live somewhere where I get to do what I want to do.”
In the last week we have had new carpet installed, taken the back door out only to find the replacement was too big, and then put the old door back in. Trust me, wasn’t funny at the time, but it is pretty funny now.
The Captain’s neighbor (the man who can, and does, fix everything) has a plan to make the door fit. I like it when he has a plan. This is kind of like that scene in Apollo 13 when they say, “Failure, is not an option.” I believe they were trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. In space. We aren’t quite that desperate, but if we get bored enough then we might try installing a door in space.
In the meantime, I am going to spend my time doing things like going to the grocery store at 9:00 at night? Why? Because it is what the house demands. Funny thing. The Captain has to admit that he is not well versed in the legume department. While I was cashing out three of the cashiers and two customers were trying to figure out what the light colored veggie was that the gentleman was trying to buy. I could not identify it either. Do you know what it is? (I found out the answer.) Welcome to this week’s version of – Are you smarter than a 5th Grader?!
Captain out.
Don’t forget the usual…

A turnip! Does this make me smarter than a 5yh grader??? 😉
They called it a parsnip? Same thing?
And sure that and many other things make you smarter than a 5th grader.
Parsnip…tasty treats, those :-).
I will take your word for it! I don’t think I have ever had one…
Most Definitely a Parsnip, very close to turnips……but very different tastes…My little Guy hated them!
I would say that your little guy has good taste! Lol
