I’m a Grill Dad

This post is presented in partnership with Char-Broil. Though I have been compensated, my words and thoughts are my own. If you are nice, I might share some of the grilled food. Enjoy.

I am a Grill Dad.

Not THE Grill Dad. I can’t speak for everyone as there is a wide variety of us, but there are some similarities amongst us. Personally, I’m not great at cooking, some dads are. But, one place I am comfortable? The grill.

Thing is, I am no gourmet chef. I don’t have a signature spice rub for my chicken or a sauce I have perfected over time. Instead, the grill is a bell ringer – a celebration of a day, event, or a visitor. And sometimes, it’s merely my happy place – my escape, an oasis, in the backyard.

I have grilled to decompress, to entertain, or simply to feed my family. I’ve grilled for just me and for guests of over thirty.

I’ve grilled while camping. Grilled when the power went out. Grilled because the kids begged for it. Grilled because I just enjoyed it. And now I can enjoy it even more with my Char-Broil Commercial Series TRU-Infrared Gas Grill. Did I mention that I’m not the greatest cook? That doesn’t matter thanks to Char-Broil TRU-Infrared cooking technology. Well, this cooking technology eliminates flare-ups, evenly distributes the heat (goodbye hot and cold spots), and keeps food juicier.

But there’s more to grilling than cooking. There is the experience. The chats around the grill. The games on the lawn next to the grill. The selection of music to set the mood (I prefer the blues, a little B.B King or sometimes the Hamilton soundtrack). Sometimes, I even set up a screen and projector and watch a movie with family and friends.

And then there is the moment when the food is done where it seems as though the grill sits back and smiles. It watches to see all the people it brought together. It soaks in the laughter like a sweet marinade for the soul.

And when all is said and done, the grill is a constant reminder of the potential of your own backyard. It whispers memories of good times already had and wafts invitations for afternoons and evenings to come. My Char-Broil TRU-Infrared grill? It isn’t just a tool or station for cooking. It’s a silent observer of community and a building block to the tradition of the summer time experience.

So grab a lawn chair, or some horseshoes, or even a cold beverage and enjoy yourself. Grill season is here. Truth be told – it never really ends. So cozy up to the grill. You won’t regret it. You can take my word for it – I’m a Grill Dad.
