Captain’s Log. Diaper Date 2466. Daddy Chronicles. We are now on Day 4 of potty training. It is an arduous task that is one part humbling, one part humorous, and one part mystery. It’s almost like a game of chicken. With pee. And poop. You are almost daring it to adorn your carpet.
It was easier, and faster, with the girl. The boy recently decided he was ready and willing to be trained in the ways of the potty. And so he shall be.
He started out 5 for 5, All-Star status. He hit for the cycle even – both pee and poop. No runs, no drips, no errors. I’m not sure who got cocky – me or him, but on the third day we had our first error. Followed by two more. The Diaper Dweller’s average dipped from 1.000 to a more pedestrian 5 for 8.
Yesterday he rallied and drove his average back up to 10 for 13. And he is batting cleanup once again for our PTT (Potty Training Team).
We tried to introduce underwear, but it seems to have been a premature endeavor. We will delay that process and proceed with the more perfunctory activities until he has those down.
It’s kind of bittersweet to say the least, but such is life.
Well, I’m off to train the lad. For now…Captain out.
