Captain’s Log. Diaper Date 2538. Daddy Chronicles. It has been awhile since I have posted. It’s hard to write, post, and find humor when within days/weeks am unarmed teen was shot, a community mourned and seemingly splintered, the murder/beheading of a journalist was broadcast, and the funniest man alive died. I have been struggling to string words together that made sense. Words that mattered. Words that conveyed a sense of loss, fear, anger, sadness, and hope that were swirling in my head and heart.
In spite of the dark clouds that threaten our future and present day, I take heart in the fact that they are temporary. I take heart in the fact that there have been many a dark cloud before and we have survived, thrived, and achieved in spite of them.
Through the dark clouds I have been graced by the sunlight of my children’s smiles, laughter, and hugs. I needed that. I think many of us needed that. And it’s time to share the good and the bad again.
My tag line has been “navigating the stormy waters of fatherhood”. The water have indeed been choppy, but we are still afloat, and still on course.
I’m sorry for my silence and look forward to sharing much more in the coming days.
Hug your loved ones and know that your words, our words, and actions do matter. And despite the gray sky, the sun will, and does, shine bright. Have a great day and week.
For now…Captain out.
Nicely done, bro. Love you!
Thanks, sis! Love you too.
