In honor of National Donut Day, I got conned into buying donuts this morning. And thus I decided I would pen a poem about donuts. Prepare to be amazed:
Donut
To the round feast of yeast I tip my cap.
The mere mention of your name makes children smile and clap.
Be you speckled with sprinkles or injected with cream
It is your name that my children continually scream
Usually you are round, but I have found you oblong and even square
No matter what shape you’re in, a box of you we’ll snare
Dear donut, we love you by the Baker’s dozen
We share you with friends, strangers, and distant cousins
Oh, Donut, on National Donut Day we want you to be aware
The fact that we continually eat you shows we care
